Seagrass Design is the collective inspirations of Jamie & Kimberley McCabe. With a mutual love of art, design, fashion & all things creative we developed our own independent label where art & fashion beautifully collide.
Seagrass Design's values lie in creating high quality products made in an ethical & sustainable way. Our designs are largely influenced by the beauty found in nature, & presented in fun, vibrant & colourful patterns. In 2016 we released our first Women's fashion collection. Our label has continued to grow & diversify over the years & now creates exclusive collections of Women's, Men's & Kids clothing, plus unique ranges of handmade pottery, wall art, homewares & accessories. We design & cut all the garments from our studio which is nestled amongst gorgeous vineyards in the Tamar Valley, just outside Launceston, Tasmania. We have an amazing team of local dressmakers who make your clothes with love & careful attention to detail. Local production allows us to ensure our high standards & ethical values are maintained, whilst also providing the ability to offer some small customisation options for that extra special service.
Our fabrics are ethically sourced & digitally printed in India & Thailand. The fabrics are quality assured with Standard 100 by OEKO-TEX & certified GOTS printing standards. We choose to print digitally as it is much more environmentally friendly by using very low water & power consumption, along with significantly less ink to further reduce wastage.
We live by a strict reduce, reuse & recycle policy & always aim for zero waste by using all fabric remnants to create smaller products ie: hats, bags & accessories.. Whatever tiny pieces we are unable to use ourselves we donate to a local quilting group who turn the smallest offcuts into all sorts of amazing patchwork creations.
Seagrass release 4 new collections each year, with strict limitations on each print. You can find all the Seagrass products in our vibrant little store on the corner of York St & Kingsway, Launceston, surrounded by some of Tasmania's best bars, cafes & independent boutiques. The studio offers a huge range of paintings, digital artworks, clothing & homewares, plus you'll have the opportunity to chat to the makers, & maybe get a glimpse into new prints or products in production.
With one eye always on the future there is constantly something new in creation.
